Working in rice field terraces in Korea

The blue sky last weekend invited to climb the mountains, we decided to do a tour in Jiri san (지리산) where farmers were working in the rice field terraces. Most work has to be done manually, but even the usage of a rice transplanter is hard work. The terraces are made by stone walls and earth. The water in the fields is managed by clay dams and tubes/channels which are connected to a brook of the mountain. Of course there are animals like leeches (not lychee ) in the water, therefore very long rubber boots and waterproof trousers are used by the farmers.
